The Rock County Budget faces some challenges as the economy slows.

County Administrator Craig Knutson tells WCLO's Stan Milam show this year's budget goal is simply to maintain the operation. Knutson says typically when unemployment rates go up, so do calls for social services. Knutson says the calls for service have doubled since 2002, while state aid hasn't gone up since 1995. This year's county budget is $2 million less than last year.

The county board votes on the budget next month.
