A Beloit man is convicted on child abuse charges.

The Rock County District Attorney says a jury found 24-year-old Jason Jordon guilty of giving his five-month-old nephew multiple skull fractures. Jordon's brother testified he left the infant in Jordon's care in June. When he returned from taking his wife to work he discovered the baby's injuries. Jordon admitted to police he was the only person who cared for the infant while his brother was gone, but claimed the injuries happened when his brother accidentally dropped the baby on pavement.

A pediatrician testified at the two-day trial that the infant's fractures could not have occurred the way Jordon described and would have required significantly more force to cause a skull fracture in a five-month-old.

Jordon faces a fine of up to $25,000 and up to ten years in prison.
