Top-ranked East trims Craig swimmers
MADISON The state’s top-ranked Division 1 high school girls swim team was too much for Janesville Craig.
Madison East’s powerful Purgolders raced past the visiting Cougars, 105-65, by winning every event in a Big Eight Conference dual.
Craig’s Hailey Schneider finished second in the 200 individual medley in 2:12.16 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.91. Jenna Gorman was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:42.49 and third in the 200 freestyle in 2:15.94
Also for Craig, Emily LeGried was third in the 500 freestyle in 6:08.93, and Annika Whitcomb finished third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:20.09.
“This was the hardest week of practice for the whole season,” Craig coach Brian Kitzman said. “We were very tired, but the girls did a good job.’’
