Milton High’s football team passed for 310 yards Friday night, but it wasn’t enough to save the visiting Red Hawks.

Oregon found creases in Milton’s defense and pulled off a 24-21 victory for the upset of the season in the Badger South.

It was the first time in five conference games that any team scored more than one touchdown against the Red Hawks.

In losing a conference game for the first time since joining the Badger this season, Milton fell to 4-1 in the Southern Division and 5-2 overall. Madison Edgewood (3-1) pulled within a half-game of the first-place Red Hawks, who missed a chance to clinch a title tie.

After jumping to a 10-0 lead, Oregon (4-3, 3-2) never trailed. The Panthers answered every Milton threat, finally on Aaron Nelson's 11-yard touchdown pass to Alex McCauley with 8:17 remaining after Milton got within 17-14.

Zach Fry’s 8-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Farnsworth again got Milton within three points with 2:11 remaining, but time ran out.

Fry completed 29 of 42 attempts for all of Milton’s passing yardage. Hank McIvor had 10 receptions for 63 yards, Ethan Bachinski had six for 71, and Nathan Hammon had three for 78.

Oregon prevailed with the help of Nelson’s 8-for-15 passing for 179 yards and three touchdowns.
