UW-Rock County slammed the door on UW-Washington, posting a 3-0 victory in a Wisconsin Collegiate Conference men’s soccer tournament semifinal here Wednesday.

The Rattlers (12-0-1) face UW-Fox Valley in the WCC title match at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fox Valley.

Mike Strieker, a Janesville Parker graduate, scored all three UW-Rock goals to improve his team-leading scoring to 20 goals. Goalkeeper Dominic Amato, an Evansville graduate, posted his sixth shutout to set UW-Rock’s -season record for shutouts.

“I pulled Mike aside, and told him it was going to be one of those games where it was going to be on his shoulders,” said UW-Rock coach Grant McNall. “We defeated Washington 6-1 in the regular season, and I knew they were going to play us tough.’’

Strieker scored at 33 minutes of the first half with an assist to Kyle Parr. He added second-half goals at 63 minutes and 92 minutes on a pair of assists from Miliano Aguilar.

UW-Rock tied Fox Valley, 3-3, in a tournament and posted a 3-1 regular-season victory.

“They are tough,” McNall said. “Their only loss was to us.’’

The Rattlers lost twice last season to Fox Valley by a combined score of 9-1.

“My second-year players are going to play to win back their pride,” McNall said.
