Child Safety highlighted during Fire Prevention Week

WCLO's Steve Benton reports on local fire prevention week efforts

BELOIT — Children playing with fire is an appropriate topic of discussion during National Fire Prevention Week.

Beloit fire inspector, Jeremy Flanagan, says many of the fires in Beloit this year resulted in extensive loss. In addition, Flanagan says, children have been involved in the majority of fires he's investigated.

Flanagan says teaching efforts this year are focusing on safety at home, especially in the kitchen. Flanagan says he'd like to see fire safety taught in schools and at home.
