Rock County's displaced auto workers to receive up to $3.8 million
The US Department of Labor is providing up to $3.8 million to displaced auto workers in Rock County.
Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board Director Bob Borremans says the grant is awarded in phases. The first phase includes $1.6 million to assist second shift workers laid off in July. It will be used to pay for retraining, child care and transportation. He says the grant comes at a good time because people are registering for second semester classes and it will help them pay those costs.
If Rock County utilizes the money in the first phase, they will receive more funding as it is needed.
