-- A 13-YEAR-OLD JANESVILLE BOY referred to juvenile authorities Friday on a charge of possessing a dangerous weapon other than a firearm on the grounds of Marshall Middle School, 25 S. Pontiac Drive, Janesville. Police described the weapon as a shank, a homemade stabbing instrument. In this case, a large tweezers were straightened, and both ends sharpened with points and edges, police said.

-- TARRELL J. HYDE, 18, of 729 Central Ave., Beloit, on charges of burglary and theft Tuesday.

-- SHAWN D. BELL, 23, of 4032 Portland Ave., Beloit, and KENTRELL T. PLEDGER, 21, of 8302 Broad St., Beloit, both on charges of battery by prisoner Tuesday after a fight in the Rock County Jail.

-- STEVEN L. BROOKENS, 53, of 122 S. Academy St., Janesville, on warrants charging party to cocaine delivery and failure to report to jail Wednesday evening at his home.

-- SHANAYA D. EDGELL, 18, of 170 Linn St., Janesville, on a charge of physical abuse to a child at her home Wednesday evening.

Intoxicated driving arrests

-- JOSHUA S. GIDDLEY, 27, of 618 S. Franklin St., Janesville, at 1:14 a.m. Wednesday at Court and Arch streets in Janesville.

-- JEREMY T. MCCARTHY, 26, of 2747 Park Place Lane, No. 44, Janesville, at 11:34 p.m. Wednesday at Main and Milwaukee streets in Janesville. It was reported as his second arrest on a drunken-driving charge.


n ROBBERY in the 100 block of North River Street in Janesville reported Wednesday night by a 37-year-old Janesville man, who told police he was hit over the head and robbed of his wallet about 11:55 p.m. The man was treated at the emergency room of Mercy Hospital in Janesville.


-- HIGHWAY 67 WEST OF SOUTH TURTLE TOWN HALL ROAD in Turtle Township at 2:52 p.m. Sunday, a motorcycle driven by Kenneth D. Light, 33, Pecatonia, Ill., rear-ended a motorcycle driven by Joseph A. Adams, 24, Rockford, Ill., Light was ticketed for following too closely. He and his passengeróChasidy R. Light, 31, same addressówere reported transported for medical treatment.

-- 2020 MILTON AVENUE, ENTRANCE TO PONDEROSA STEAK HOUSE parking lot in Janesville at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, a chain-reaction rear-end collision involved eight vehicles. No one was reported injured, and no tickets were issued. The first vehicle was turning into the parking lot and was not hit. But the second vehicle stopped abruptly and was rear-ended by the third vehicle. Vehicles 4 and 5 swerved to avoid collisions, but the sixth vehicle also stopped abruptly and was rear-ended by the seventh vehicle, which in turn was hit by Vehicle 8.

-- CELIA D. ZEEK, 49, Wonder Lake, Ill., on Sept. 23 at Highway 50 and Edwards Boulevard in Lake Geneva.

-- JUSTON J. PACZKOWSKI, 35, Las Vegas, on Sept. 24 on Highway 50 east of Highway 12 in Lake Geneva.

-- MARK C. ZILLY, 52, N1720 Wildwood Drive, Lake Geneva, on Sept. 24 at South Street and South Lakeshore Drive in Lake Geneva.

-- JEFFREY C. PETERSEN, 27, Erie, Penn., on Friday on Main Street at Snake Road in Lake Geneva.

-- FRANK L. TESCHKE, 43, W1612 Litchfield Road, Lake Geneva, on Saturday on Center Street at Wrigley Drive. He also was cited for unreasonable and imprudent speed.


-- THEFT, from a vehicle in the 1200 block of Wisconsin Street in Lake Geneva reported about 7:15 a.m. Friday. A number of power tools valued at $4,000 were reported stolen. The tools were recovered about 6:45 p.m. Friday. The incident is under investigation.
