— Janesville police still are looking for several robbers who broke into an apartment Thursday night and assaulted two men in an apartment at 2906 N. Kennedy Road.

Officers know that three to five men wearing ski masks broke into the apartment at 11:28 p.m. and assaulted Alex Murphy, 20, and Chester Potter, 19, before stealing a television and PlayStation then fleeing in a dark-colored mini van.

Both Murphy and Potter suffered head trauma and were taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, police also found marijuana in the apartment. Murphy was arrested for possession with intent to deliver. Potter was arrested on an outstanding unrelated warrant. Both are in custody at the Rock County Jail pending their initial court appearances.

While police continue to investigate the incident, they ask anyone with information on the crimes to call the department at (608) 755-3100.

There is nothing funny about this and all of you posting need to know that serious injuries were part of this and by the way they got the morons that did it and they are out on the streets to do it again. Next time maybe it will be someone you know or someone close to you then see how you would feel to see the lack of compassion for someone who was injured in his OWN home.

If you really think it's that bad here, you should contact the Wisconsin Attorney General.

The ignorance of some people amaze me yes they had weed so what The beating in their home was serious enough to have to be treated at hospital. And do we know if it was in plain site or did the JPD use probable cause to search their home it is one of their tactics they use way to frequently. I dont condone weed use BUT THE HERION PROBLEM in this city need to be addressed and i know of 5 to 6 overdoses in a few weeks time but is that in the paper NOT lucky they didnt die. And the ones that overdosed werent arrested, they sure must of had possesion as it was in their system like alcohol in your system will get you arrested right? something to ponder! and i dont mean OWI as it gets underage kids a ticket. IMO the victims seem to become criminals in this community. Get a scanner you will here more then you think and it does not hit the paper.

I think the cops in Janesville are paranoid. A guy sitting in Walgreens parking lot was passing time looking out his binoculars while his wife was getting a perscription filled, when a cop, with his lights on comes up and asks him if he has a gun. Since when does having a pair of binocs equate to having a gun.
Geez, they are getting stupider every day.

How tragic, when they needed their medicinal marijuana the most, after the beatings, the police took the magic weed.

in a related story from a madison news source. The police arrived to SEE two breaking into the appartment. So why didnt the police catch the ones they saw committing a crime? wait, they got the victums with a "moderate" amount of pot. No need to catch the violent criminals seen breaking in......

Just speculation-but drugs might have been involved and just not mentioned.

Some real dumb comments here. The men are very lucky to be alive. doc0430 you made a good point. JPD proberly pissed because they had to actualy do some work. Funny how everywhere the cops go they find pot. Seems like crimes in Janesville are getting worst everyday. Just because your a pothead doesn't warrent getting assaulted in your own home. So you better lock your doors because you may be next.

Maybe being dumb enough to leave the pot out where the police can see it while thinking that being a victim exempted them from certain things goes hand in hand with being a pot head.

Maybe these two pot heads came up with an insurance scam and sold the "stolen" stuff for pot money and beat the hell of each other to make it look like a robbery but didn't think the whole thing through.

yes, who's to say that, in the process of beating the alleged victims, the perpetrators didn't drop the drugs? sounds like a good frame up.

Well of course it was an "unrelated warrant" Potter was arrested for there is no warrant for getting your a-- kicked!DUH, And why did the officers search the two victims home? Whoes to say that the 5 who beat and burglarized the 2 didn't drop their pot in the scuffle? Now on top of getting beaten and robbed the 2 victims are sitting in jail..... Good work JPD sounds like the real bad guys here are gonna get away, or maybe they could catch them throw them in with the 2 and get their a--es kicked again!

Is it just me....or did anyone else notice the choice of words in this story, compared to, say a sexual assault against a woman?

In this story, the "Officers know that three to five men wearing ski masks...". Were the officers there, or are they just taking the victims' word for it? In sexual assault stories, the verbage is more like: The alleged victim told officers that there were three to five...

Perhaps I am too sensitive to words, but gee whiz, I find this very offensive.
