Highlights: Village Administrator Kelly Hayden said the budget includes several capital improvements, such as:

-- A new snow plow truck

-- A new police squad car

-- Mudjacking and flooring replacement at the police department

-- Construction of a storage shed for sand and salt

-- Reconstruction and utility improvements on Sauganash and Shabbona drives

Hayden said the "bare-boned" capital improvement expenditures total $748,290, for which the village plans to borrow $402,000.

She also said the significant decrease in the tax rate is attributed to the results of a recent revaluation. The village's assessed value increased 41 percent, she said.
