Three local middle schools receive state honors

Three local middle schools earn honors from the State Department of Public Instruction.

More than 80 Wisconsin schools are being named to the list of "Exemplary Middle Schools". Beloit Turner, Lake Geneva and Williams Bay each made the list. The review of 307 schools identified schools with high growth in reading or math scores in the past year, reading or math scores in the top ten percent in the past year, or high growth in scores in those areas for schools with a high poverty population.

As part of the criteria from DPI, these schools also make sure all kids have an adult to turn to for academic, social and emotional learning.
