WCLO's Steve Benton reports on Paul Ryan's re-election success

RSS

— Democrats win a larger majority in the house of representatives in Tuesday's election, but not at the expense of Paul Ryan of Janesville.

The republican says his success is based on issues. Ryan says one of those issues, health care, is now near the top of President elect Barack Obama's agenda.

Ryan watched as many of his colleagues, some long time politicians, were swept out of office. He sees himself as a new republican who can influence the party's platform.

Finally, Ryan says, he expects much to be accomplished over the next four years, especially if the bipartisan spirit wins the day.

Ryan's popularity in the first congressional district is evident by his nearly two to one winning margin over his democratic challenger in Tuesday's election.
