$1.8 million isn't a lot when reviewing the scope of Rock County's $173.6 million budget.
But parks enthusiasts say it would mean a lot for the county to designate that money for open space. The county board held its 2009 budget hearing Wednesday. The money in question is an environmental impact fee from the American Transmission Company intended for conservation purposes. The county's finance committee reviews the recommended budget--including the fee--Thursday morning.
