— Village Clerk/Treasurer Dawn Redenius continued her work at the polls Tuesday despite her husband's sudden death Monday.

Bruce Redenius died of an apparent heart attack. He was 55. The couple were married 29 years.

Dawn said with a shaky voice Tuesday night her husband knew how important Election Day was for her.

She didn't put in the long hours Tuesday that she normally would have on Election Day, but she came in about 4:30 p.m. and worked on entering same-day registrations.

"I didn't want to just sit at home," she said. "You gotta keep yourself busy."

She said her staff and poll workers picked up the slack.

Dawn Redenius has been the village clerk/treasurer for 17 years.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear for her loss but impressed by her dedication to the electoral process.

What a difficult time to be a public servant and have such weighty obligations.
