Allbreed Judge Doug Blackmore, from Orlando, FL., inspects Luna, a Persian cat, at the Janesville Allbreed Cat Club and Central Wisconsin Cat Club's annual fall cat show at the Craig Center on the Rock County 4-H Fairgrounds. Luna's owners, Pete and Sheila Dewey, traveled all the way from Jamestown, ND.

— Luna is a sassy, pampered kitty with a showgirl’s attitude and a runway model’s strut.

Like a diva, she has everyone waiting on her. Like a beauty queen, she can’t be seen without perfect hair and makeup. And like a Hollywood celebrity, she captures everyone’s attention.

“It’s all about me, and I’m beautiful,” the Persian cat thinks, according to her owner.

Luna won first place in her breed Saturday and a chance to finish in the top 10 overall at the Janesville Allbreed Cat Club and Central Wisconsin Cat Club Cat Show. The two-day show continues today.

Luna, owned by Sheila and Pete Dewey of North Dakota, was one of about 130 cats competing at the Rock County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Five judges scored the cats by head size, shape, eyes, ears, tail and other physical features, cat show manager Chris Buck said.

Like many pageant girls, Luna was a little anxious before the show. She had been bathed.

Her footsies had received a pedicure. She was fluffed and combed.

Luna’s tears were soaked with cotton swabs. Her eyes were powdered. Her fur was sprayed with mist.

“It’s kind of like a beauty parlor,” Sheila said. “It’s like getting ready for the prom.”

When Luna took the stage, she seduced the audience. She batted her eyes. She dazzled with her white coat.

She teased the crowd with a “meow.”

“She’s got a nice round head and a good, flat profile,” allbreed judge Doug Blackmore said. “She’s a good representative of the breed.”

Luna has a chance to become a champion Persian, but she has a problem with her weight, Pete said.

She is a little skinny.

“She’s starting to come into heat, so she isn’t eating as well,” Pete said.

Despite her showgirl promise, Luna will always be a good pet.

“She’s lovable,” Pete said. “She’s very outgoing and friendly.”
