Airsoft pistol, drugs behind two expulsions
JANESVILLE The Janesville School Board expelled two students Tuesday. They are:
-- A middle school student who was accused of bringing an airsoft pistol to school, expelled through the end of this school year but not summer school.
-- A high school student, accused of delivering prescription drugs on school grounds, expelled through the end of the 2008-09 school year. However, the student may return to school as early as this Friday by continuing prescribed medication and other treatment and completing all schoolwork through the end of the year by Friday.
If reinstated early, the student must complete a district anti-drug/alcohol course; maintain satisfactory behavior, attendance and schoolwork; and be restricted to the school building during lunch, all through June 10, 2009.
This brings to 40 the number of students expelled this school year, compared with 46 at this time last year.
