Janesville School Board commissioner Amy Rashkin hopes to apply for a staff development job the school district may create.

Commissioner Tim Cullen says that's inappropriate. He says the school board is not a job-creating agency for its members. Commissioner Kevin Murray also voiced opposition to the job. Murray says the school board needs to stop spending.

Commissioner Dennis Vechinsky says he trusts that the superintendent will give the staff development position to Rashkin only if she is the most qualified for the position. Rashkin says she is not trying to hide anything and she would resign before applying.

The staff development position will be discussed by the district's Personnel Committee in two weeks.
