The environment appears a concern for citizens speaking out in support of a Sustainable Janesville Committee at Tuesday night's council meeting.

The council voted to establish a committee intended to help the city accomplish goals including reducing the dependency on fossil fuels, reduce dependence on chemicals that can accumulate in nature, and reduce activities that harm life-sustaining ecosystems. City Council President Amy Loasching has suggested the administration create such a committee.

The council also adopted Eco-Municipality guidelines for Sustainable Practices.
