— Janesville Parker High School shook off five errors to roll past visiting Sun Prairie, 6-2, in Big Eight Conference baseball Tuesday.

“We are starting to play better,” Parker coach Brian Martin said. “Our pitching is improving and we are starting to swing the bats better.’’

While Martin was not happy about the five errors, he said the Vikings made the plays a the right times.

“Matt Beyer had a fully extended diving catch with the bases loaded in the fourth inning,” Martin said of the center fielder’s key defensive play. “If he didn’t make that play, it could have been a different game.’’

Parker pitcher David Jacobson allowed two runs on four hits in going the distance. Jacobson had one strikeout and walked four.

“David kept Sun Prairie off balance the whole game,” Martin said.

The Vikings scored five runs in the fourth inning to polish off the Cardinals. Jacobson, Ross Mauermann and Ian Larson each had RBI singles, and Sun Prairie had a two-run error to give Parker a 5-0 lead.

Parker (6-12, 6-9) travels to Madison East on Thursday for its regular-season finale.
