— Janesville Parker High’s baseball team snapped a six-game losing streak Saturday.

Matt Beyer had three hits and drove in two runs, while pitcher Garrett Morris fired a complete game, as the Vikings doubled up Madison La Follette, 8-4, in a Big Eight Conference game.

In sweeping the season series against the Lancers, the Vikings improved to 5-11 overall and 5-9 in the conference.

“With the regular season winding down and the tournament coming up, we needed this win,” Parker coach Brian Martin said. “The difference today was that even though we fell behind early, we kept battling and didn’t hang our heads.

“Garrett hadn’t pitched that great his last couple times out, but today he was much sharper. And the defense player error-free behind him.”

Morris, a senior righthander, allowed nine hits but only walked two batters. He struck out four and pitched very well after giving up three runs in the bottom of the first.

Trailing 3-0, Parker took the lead for good with four runs in the second. Ian Larson started the rally with an RBI single, and Beyer later added a two-run single to give the Vikings a 4-3 lead.

The teams traded runs in the fourth before Parker opened up a cushion with three runs in the sixth. Brodie Meehan’s two-run single highlighted the rally.

Parker plays Rockford Boylan in a nonconference game Monday at 4:30 at Riverside Park.
