— Sun Prairie High School's softball team took advantage of Janesville Parker’s seven errors to gain a 3-1 victory in a Big Eight game Tuesday at Dawson Field.

Paige Muehlenkamp singled, went to sent on a sacrifice and scored on Amanda Benash’s triple to give Parker at 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Sun Prairie jumped ahead with two unearned runs in the fourth and added another in the seventh.

“Our seven errors kind of came into play there,’’ Parker coach Dyann Riley said of the Cardinals’ scoring. “We outhit ’em (7-5) and had a lot of opportunities but couldn’t do what we needed to do.

“Mary Cate pitched and excellent game,’’ Riley said of Parker’s Mary Cate Tracey. “She did her job.’’

But the Vikings’ offense and defense didn’t do the same, leaving Parker at 5-10 in the conference and 6-12 overall.
