— Sheriff’s deputies waited for nearly an hour this morning for a man to surrender himself at a rural home in Fulton Township. The incident ended peacefully.

Patrol deputies were called to 9409 N. Fulton St. at 6:40 a.m. after being dispatched to check on the welfare of someone who may have been armed.

Deputies made contact with the man and set up a perimeter, sheriff’s department Cmdr. Troy Knudson said. The man surrendered without incident around 7:38 a.m. Several firearms were found in the house. No other information about the man’s status was immediately available.

The reason for the incident remains under investigation, Knudson said.
