Courtney Flood's goal with just over two minutes remaining lifted Delavan-Darien High School's girls soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Janesville Parker in the championship game of the Parker Invitational here Saturday.

Parker (14-4) advanced to the title game with wins over Beaver Dam and Fort Atkinson, but could not overcome the talented Comets.

“I think we just ran out of gas,” Parker coach Matt Beisser said. “We were battling some injuries and weren’t really able to rest our starters much our first two games. "Delavan-Darien got to play some reserves against Clinton, and that allowed them to have more left in the tank in the second half of our game.

“But give them credit. They’ve got a talented team and have 20 players that can contribute.”

Kelsey Bysted and Nicole Strieker scored two goals each to pace Parker’s offensive attack.

The Vikings face state-ranked and unbeaten Middleton in a Big Eight Conference game on Monday. The Cardinals have not allowed a goal all season.
