Craig soccer team trips Beloit
BELOIT Sofia Sanchez was forced to make only one save as Janesville Craig High School;s girls soccer team coasted to a 3-1 win Thursday in a Big Eight Conference game at Beloit.
Emma Fashing and Gretchen Westphal had first-half goals, and Megan Lindgren added an insurance goal in the second half as the Cougars improved to 3-4 in the conference and 6-7 overall.
“It was a good win for us,” Craig coach Bill McCabe said. “We had a tough loss on Tuesday, and it was nice to be able to bounce back tonight.
“Gretchen was really hitting the ball hard and made a nice play on her goal.”
Craig is at a tournament in Green Bay on Saturday. The Cougars open with Green Bay East at 9 a.m. and also play Grafton and second-ranked Green Bay Notre Dame.
