— Janesville Parker High School paid for the error of its ways in a 3-2 loss to Madison La Follette in Big Eight Conference softball Wednesday at Madison.

La Follette took a 3-0 lead, scoring single unearned runs in the first, second and third innings. Parker committed a throwing error and fielding errors on ground balls that allowed the Lancers to score.

Kelley Koebler ripped an RBI single in the fifth inning to pull Parker within 3-1. Koebler opened the seventh with a one-out double and scored on Lindsay Kluge’s single to trail 3-2.

Parker appeared headed for a rally in the seventh, putting runners on first and second, but both Vikings were thrown out on separate running mistakes to end the game.

“It was awful,” Parker coach Dyann Riley said.

Parker, 4-7 in the Big Eight, hosts Janesville Craig at 4 p.m. today at Dawson Field.
