Sharon school has new district administrator
SHARON The Sharon School District will have a new leader this summer.
Dr. Steven K. Huebbe accepted the school board’s contract offer last week, according to a press release from the district. He will start July 1.
His two-year contract includes a $99,500 salary plus health and dental insurance.
Huebbe is the principal of Salem Grade School in Salem, which is southeast of Lake Geneva in Kenosha County. He has served as principal since 2000 and served as interim district administrator in 2004, according to the release.
His prior experience includes 12 years as a principal in the Manitowoc and McFarland school districts. He also was a fifth- and sixth-grade teacher in the Lomira School District.
Huebbe received his doctorate from UW-Madison in 1999.
“Through the interview process, it became quite clear that philosophically he was aligned with what we believe in Sharon to be educationally sound practices,” said Dan Romenesko, president of the Sharon School Board. “It became clear that he would be the top candidate.”
The Sharon School District has been seeking a district administrator since Kari Homb stepped down in October for health reasons. She has been serving as the assistant principal at Sharon Community School since then.
Lillian Henderson, the district administrator of the Linn School District (Reek Elementary School), is serving as the interim district administrator.
The Wisconsin Association of School Boards helped with the search, which netted 10 applicants. The school board interviewed four.

It's a shame that the school board feels the need to pay an admin over 100K a year with benefits. They had a teacher doing the same work for much less. Just another example of why our taxes are so high and we get so little back.
