New owners to open tanning salon
JANESVILLE A Janesville tanning salon that closed earlier this month will open next week with new owners.
John and Debra Schumacher and their daughter bought the assets of the former Paradise Island Tan Salon, 3000 Milton Ave., from a credit union. They plan to open a new tanning business at the location by the middle of next week, Debra Schumacher said.
A previous owner closed the business, leaving customers wondering if they’d get services for which they already paid. Schumacher said details are not yet firm, but the new business will make every effort to compensate customers for services they are owed.
The business can be reached at (608) 757-3666.

They are honoring your old packages by the way. The new owners state they fought for rights to the old computer system and will honor your packages for the next year. That gives you the opportunity to go in and they will pull up all your old packages from the old computer system and transfer to the new system.

i like ice cream in the winter ! tanning on the other hand makes all women look old. that may be fine with you when you 16 or 20 but, later you will regret looking like a leather bag.

sannio- actually i think theyre still busy in summer- cause all you need is 15- 30 minutes. if you lay outside hotter/humid sticky or cloudy or rain and longer than 30 minutes, and possibly just not a nice sunny place at your home, or peeping neighbors,. You have to get your suit on towel out etc. If you go to salon just your reg clothes and hop into the bed. and you cant be naked(outside at home) either for those who prefer"no tan lines"

Opening a tanning salon in spring is like opening an ice cream parlor in December. Good luck!

As an ex employee you would all be suprised at what both of them did with their money. We never balanced the drawer so at any time your hard earned money was paying for them to go to dinner or get a hair cut or just some good old fashion play money to look good. It finally caught up to them and obviously with the $800k forclosure she is not paying her mortgage either. The fall of Teresa Ludlum is here-- FINALLY!!!!

I think some may file intentially and other are forced into it. If she would have been reasonable during the divorce I believe there would have been a much more possitive outcome for everyone. I think there were other motives which led to her bad decisions. I also believe our legal system failed miserably.

speaking of being relieved of financial responsibility-- BANKRUPT. well guess that takes care of their responcibility then donesnt it
what cant people just pay for what they are able to borrow or dont borrow if you cant-
My gma in law has a niece that pulls this crap every 7 years- get those credit card balances up there buy lots of stuff then bankrupt

hannah, you are correct about divorce not releiving you of your financial responsibilities but since she was going to file bankrupt from the start that changed everything. Unfortunately for him there was no income, no control of what was and wasn't paid since she was taking 100% of the money that came into the salon. Frequent users of the salon who knew her really need to know that the salon didn't have to close because there were opportunities for her to keep the salon open for uninterrupted service for her faithful but she didn't take advantange of those options. People are smart and if they have followed this story everything I have said in every blog has been right on the money and now they finally know.

Wasn't the case of he pay she pay. SHE was getting all the income from the salon and our court system wouldn't correct it and my guess since she was going to go bankrupt after the divorce so she was probably instructed from her attorney not to pay on ANYTHING. If he was getting half the income he was entitled to the salon expenses would have been paid and the salon would have went on business as usual. SHE played our system and unfortunately now the customers are out and he has no business....Great system we have here now isn't it? Shame on our court system!!

I am kind of confused as to why the bank owned the salon. It sounds like there is way more to this than what the Gazette is telling us. Banks/Credit Unions usually don't take possession of property unless you are not making your payments.

The funny part of this story, is it leaves out what really happen to the past owner's. I did some of my own research! I can't find a pending divorce anywhere with the previous owners. Maybe we did not get the entire story??

I wish them all the best of luck. Hopefully they will change the name so they will not need to start a business with a "BAD" name.
