— A secondhand-computer purchase led to the arrest of a Janesville man on child pornography charges.

Chad R. Moan, 30, of 830 E. Milwaukee St. was picked up on a Winnebago County, Ill., warrant at noon Thursday.

Rockford police issued the warrant for Moan’s arrest after finding child pornography on a computer that Moan once owned.

A Rockford man bought Moan’s computer secondhand and was “disturbed by the images he found on it,” Rockford Deputy Police Chief Greg Lindmark told the Rockford Register Star.

He turned the computer over to police, who traced it back to Moan.

According to the criminal complaint, Moan knowingly possessed depictions of children who “the defendant reasonably should have known to be under the age of 18 years” showing the children engaged in sexual acts with men and women.

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office charged the former Rockford man with 18 counts of child pornography.

Moan is in the Rock County Jail on a $250,000 bond. He is awaiting extradition to Winnebago County.

The thing about Schade was that he ... produced his own material. If possession is all this guy faces, he may well be able to manage a suspended sentence. He will be on the sex offender list, though.

Anyone remember Jeremy Schade? He got 220 years in federal prison on charges of possession of child porn and the state is also proceeding with charges against him. I hope Illinois follows suit with this case
