Wisconsin faces Davidson in Sweet 16

MADISON The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team plays Davidson in the NCAA Midwest Regional semifinals at 6:10 p.m. (CDT) Friday at Ford Field in Detroit.
The Badgers, seeded third in the Midwest Region, defeated No. 14 Cal State Fullerton and No. 11 Kansas State to advance to the Sweet 16. Davidson, the No. 10 seed, defeated No. 7 Gonzaga and No. 2 Georgetown.
Kansas plays Villanova in Friday night’s second semifinal game at Detroit.
The winners play at an undetermined time on Sunday for the regional title and spot the Final Four.
All games will be televised live by CBS: Channels 3, 23, 58 (Channels 9 and 10 on Janesville cable).
Davidson won its only previous meeting with Wisconsin, 67-63, on Dec. 12, 1980 in the opening round of the First Union Classic in Charlotte, N.C. UW is 6-1 all-time against teams currently in the Southern Conference, including a 70-43 win over Wofford on Dec. 3 in Madison.
Davidson defeated Wofford three times this season by an average of 30.3 points.
