Fire victim benefits set for Saturday

JANESVILLE — Joey Ashmore will come home Saturday, his grandmother Laurie Ginter told The Janesville Gazette in an e-mail.

Ashmore, 2, has been in the hospital since a May 10 fire that killed his 7-year-old brother, Derek R.J. Mattingly.

Benefits for the Ashmore-Mattingly family will take place Saturday in Janesville and Beloit.

-- The Janesville benefit for the Ashmore-Mattingly family will be held from noon to 10 p.m. at RoadDawgs Saloon & Eatery, 3402 Milton Ave.

Karaoke, food and drink specials include: 2 for 1 burger baskets; $10 steak dinner; $5 brat, hot dog or BBQ baskets. A dollar goes to the family with every purchase, and all food will be served with free beer while supplies last.

The event Saturday includes two live bands, raffles and auctions.

-- The Beloit benefit for the Ashmore-Mattingly family will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 1806 Gale

Drive.

A $7.50 steak dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. The event also includes raffles and silent auction with prizes: packages from Rascal Flatts, Kutter Harley-Davidson, travel to Las Vegas or Cancun, stays at Great Wolf and Wilderness Lodge in Wisconsin Dells and more.

Donors may drop off cash at either location or mail checks, payable to the Mattingly-Ashmore Family Benefit Fund, to P.O. Box 8070, Janesville, WI 53547.
