Evansville hunting for District 4 alder replacement
EVANSVILLE The city is looking for a new District 4 alderperson after Alderman John Sornson announced he will resign from the city council effective July 31.
Sornson resigned his District 4 alder position, citing personal reasons, after six years on the council. He said he plans to enjoy the time off and spend more time gardening.
Sornson first ran for council to help others and see where the money goes, he said.
“I didn’t want it (money) wasted, and as far as I know, it wasn’t,” he said.
Sornson was reelected in an unopposed race in April. He currently serves on the water and light utility committee, public works committee and public safety committee.
“He’s definitely been involved and committed,” City Administrator Dan Wietecha said.
The city council will appoint a replacement, likely by the end of summer, to serve until the April election, he said.
Residents interested in the position who live in District 4 should send a letter of interest and resume to Human Resources Administrator Jodi Sam at jodi.sam@ci.evansville.wi.gov or at city hall, 31 S. Madison St., Evansville, WI 53536.
