Members of the public will learn more Wednesday about a cell tower proposed for the Rock County 4-H Fairgrounds in Janesville.

Gale Price, City of Janesville Manager of Building and Development Services, says since the tower would be built within city limits, the city's Plan Commission would need to approve a conditional use permit. Price says city staff members haven't made a recommendation about the tower yet. He says this proposal is a 100-foot tower that looks like a flag pole. The antennas are recessed in the pole and the company, called Cricket, would hang a flag on it. According to Price, similar to previous discussions the impact of electromagnetic field and radio waves cannot be the basis for the denial of a conditional use permit.

Wednesday's meeting starts at 6:00 at the Craig Center at the fairgrounds.
