Three former candidates apply to fill school board seats
JANESVILLE A former school board member and two former school board candidates have applied to fill two vacancies on the Janesville School Board.
The deadline is Wednesday, so there’s still time for others to apply.
The first three applicants are:
? David Habeck, 52, who ran in 2003. Habeck came in sixth out of seven candidates, with 3,880 votes.
? Peter D. Severson, 38, who ran for school board in 2007 and 2008. Severson came in fourth in a five-way race for three seats in April’s elections. He lost to Peggy Sheridan with 3,695 votes to Sheridan’s 3,861.
Severson is a business process analyst for the Supreme Court of Wisconsin’s Consolidated Courts Automation Programs, known as CCAP.
? Dale Thompson, who was a school board member in the early to mid 1990s.
Thompson also is the former director of the Rock County Developmental Disabilities Board.
The applicants could not be reached for comment Friday afternoon.
A committee of three school board members will review the applications and could recommend up to two candidates for each post.
The full board would vote to name the new board members, who would serve until the elections in April 2009.
The vacancies were created by two resignations: Amy Rashkin on May 30 and Dennis Vechinsky on June 10.
