Parker's Strieker receives state recognition
JANESVILLE Nicole Strieker, an All-Big Eight midfielder, has caught the state coaches’ attention.
After helping Janesville Parker High School’s girls team to a 14-win season, the junior standout has received honorable mention in the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association all-state selections.
Lauren Gunderson, Middleton’s All-Big Eight senior goalkeeper, heads the all-state picks as the Player of the Year.
Strieker earned her recognition by leading Parker with 17 assists and ranking second on her team with 17 goals. Among her highlights was scoring the only goal in a 1-0 game against Janesville Craig, giving the Vikings their first win in history over their cross-town rival.
“Nicole’s got amazing skills, and the sky’s the limit for her,’’ Parker coach Matt Beisser said. “She’s as good as anyone in the state, as far as I’m concerned.’’
