WCLO's Steve Benton reports on Alliant Energy crews assessing potential for flood damage in Janesville
JANESVILLE The city of Janesville and Alliant Energy are working together to make sure flooding doesn't affect power or gas supplies to the area.
Alliant spokesman Rob Crain says they're mapping out strategies to use in case power supplies are threatened. He says in many cases, they can find ways to reroute power to keep as many customers on the grid as possible.
Crain says they're also checking gas pipes under bridges in Janesville. He says many times floating debris from floods can cause damage. Crews report no problems with gas pipes in Janesville at this time.
Crain also asks that Rock County customers reporting problems to them use their web site at alliantenergy.com. He says their phone lines are inundated by calls from their Iowa customers, which are experiencing greater flooding problems, at this time, than Wisconsin.
