WCLO's Beth Wheelock reports on why some repairs aren't for do-it-yourselfers.

As homeowners assess storm damage, Rock County's UW Extension Horticulture Educator says repairing trees should be a priority.

Mike Maddox says homeowners can take care of small pruning themselves, but when they have to climb a ladder to reach the limbs they should call a professional. He says professionals should also be called if power lines are involved or if there could be damage to people and property, for example, if a branch is hanging over a house.

He says with the current state of the economy everyone is trying to save a few dollars. But when it comes to storm damage in large trees, Maddox says it's best not to do it yourself.
