Board to vote Tuesday on Wilson principal
JANESVILLE A principal from the Osseo-Fairchild School District is being recommended to take over the same position at Janesville’s Wilson Elementary School.
Superintendent Tom Evert is recommending Becky L. Bicha to the school board. The board is expected to vote on the recommendation Tuesday night.
Bicha (pronounced BEEK-ah) has been principal of Osseo and Fairchild elementary schools since 2006.
“She has a proven track record at the elementary level, focusing on student achievement and staff development,” Evert said in a statement.
Bicha taught second and fourth grades in La Crosse from 1995 to 2002. She taught third grade for the Prescott School District from 2002 to 2006. She earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from UW-River Falls in 2005.
Bicha would begin work July 1 with an annual salary of $87,994. She would be credited with two years experience.
Bicha was one of 21 applicants, according to a district news release. A committee of Wilson teachers, a parent and other district staff interviewed five candidates. Three were named finalists. Other finalists were both from Janesville: Lisa Peterson, assistant principal at Franklin Middle School, and Alison Spiegel, assistant principal at Craig High.
Bicha would replace Ann Lund, who retires June 30.
