Quad Cites shuts down Snappers

— The Beloit Snappers were no-hit through the first five innings and suffered a 4-2 loss to the Quad Cities River Bandits in Midwest League baseball here Monday.

Chris Parmelee ripped a two-run single in the seventh inning to cut Quad Cities’ lead to 3-2. The River Bandits added an insurance run in the ninth.


Quad Cities’ Paul Vazquez smacked a solo home run in the second for a 1-0 lead. The River Bandits added two runs in the third for a 3-0 advantage.


Beloit starting pitcher Santos Arias (5-2) took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits through six innings. Quad Cities starter Nicholas Additon (5-2) no-hit the Snappers for his five innings to gain the victory.


Ben Revere singled off Quad Cities reliever Mark Diapoules in the sixth inning to break the no-hit bid. Diapoules surrendered three more hits but got his second save.
