Two area gauges show river below flood stage

— The Rock Riverís level is now below flood stage at the Afton gauge south of Janesville.

The gaugeís measurements show the river level dipped below the 9-foot flood stage at 7 a.m. Saturday. The river continues to fall and was at 8.46 inches at 7:30 a.m. today, according to data posted to the U.S. Geological Service Web site.

National Weather Service projections show the gauge dropping below 7 feet by Sunday.

Upstream at the Indianford gauge, the water is also below flood stage, at 13.63 feet this morning. Flood stage there is 15 feet.

The Lake Koshkonong gauge near Newville has gone below its 10-foot flood stage. The gauge measured 9.03 feet this morning.
