— Assistant Beloit Fire Chief Tim Curtis says they have a major problem, too many unnecessary calls for ambulance service.

Curtis says their answer is an educational program called "Make the right call" which is designed to help the public make proper choices in the various emergencies they face.

Curtis says the high volume of non life threatening calls they respond to can affect the level of service to those who really need it.

He says the information will be disseminated to church groups and civic organizations, and to the general public through a brochure.

The effectiveness of the program will be assessed in about six months.
