— Maintenance workers could be considered the unsung heroes of the Rock County 4-H Fair. That staff is there early, and late, to make sure everything is set up correctly and at the right time.

Dick Zanzinger has been on the fair board for over 20 years and works as the liaison between the board and maintenance staff. He says the kids who exhibit animals are responsible for feeding them, but it's the maintenance crew that handles the results.

Zanzinger says the small workforce of paid and volunteer workers handle much of the day to day operations.

The two things feared most by the staff are storms and heat waves. If the weather forecast is on target, they won't have to worry about that this year.
