Cocaine sentence is more than 15 years
JANESVILLE A Beloit man will face 15 years and 8 months in prison for possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb sentenced Anthony C. Dumas, 32, Monday after Dumas pleaded guilty to the charge April 25.
Police arrested Dumas on Nov. 30, 2007, after he attempted to elude officers following a traffic stop. The officers found large amounts of cocaine in Dumas’ vehicle packaged for sale and a loaded gun.
Crabb gave the long sentence because of previous drug and weapons convictions. Dumas also was on two terms of felony probation at the time of the conviction.
The charges came on the heels of a Janesville Police Department investigation.
