Snappers rally for win
BELOIT A five-run rally helped carry the Beloit Snappers to an 11-7 victory over the West Michigan Whitecaps in Midwest League baseball here Thursday.
Trailing the visiting Whitecaps 4-2 after 32 innings, Beloit scored five runs on four hits, a walk and an error in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead for good at 7-4. Ben Revere’s two-run double keyed the Snappers’ rally.
Beloit added two insurance runs in the fifth on a fielding error and a wild pitch for a 9-5 lead. The Snappers scored two more runs in the eighth inning on a wild pitch and Deibinson Romero’s RBI single for the final outcome.
Snappers’ starter Michael McCardell (7-2) allowed five runs on seven hits through the first five innings to gain the victory. Snappers’ closer Blake Martin allowed one run on three hits through the final two innings for the save.
