WCLO's Steve Benton reports on building the new Eclipse Boulevard in Beloit

RSS

— Work is finally getting started on a Beloit project designed and approved a couple years ago.

The first task, in building Eclipse Boulevard, is to remove trees from a wooded area east of Riverside Drive and south of the old Beloit Mall, which is now called the Eclipse Center. Beloit City Engineer Mike Flesch says that area will be filled in to provide for a gentle slope up the hill to Park Avenue.

The two lane road will provide access to Beloit's new Library in the Eclipse Center, and to ABC Supply company property to the south. Flesch says the road will have a boulevard on the west end.

If all goes as planned, the project should be completed before the end of the construction season.
