JANESVILLE — Janesville’s American Legion pounded the Janesville East Junior Legion, 11-6, in the opening round of the Mike Grogan Baseball Classic at McQuade Field on Tuesday.
The Legion showered the East with six runs on three hits in the second inning to take a commanding 8-1 lead. Brodie Meehan connected on a three-run homer to highlight the rally.
Meehan put the Legion on top, 2-0, in the first inning with a two-run double. Meehan had five RBIs
The Legion had 12 hits, while the East had eight. Christian DeCremer hit a solo homer in the sixth inning for the East.
The East’s Mike Davis allowed seven runs on six hits in three innings to take the loss. The Legion’s Brett Fredricks allowed one run on two hits through the first two innings to gain the victory.
The Janesville Legion faced the Janesville West Junior Legion at 5 p.m. today at McQuade Field. East and West meet at 5 p.m. Thursday.
