— A Janesville man has been charged federally with illegally possessing firearms.

Steven Skoien, 27, of 1634 Garden Drive, Janesville, faces a maximum 10 years in federal prison.

He is charged with possessing a shotgun, rifle and pistol despite being convicted of two misdemeanors involving domestic violence. Such convictions bar people from owning guns in Wisconsin.

Skoien was arrested in early December as part of a joint effort among state agencies and local law enforcement that checked hunting license information against criminal records.
