— Marcus Genrich won the 100 breaststroke to help lead Janesville Parker High School’s boys swim team to a third-place finish at the Racine Invitational on Saturday.

The co-op team Lake Geneva Badger/Walworth Big Foot won the 10-team title at Park High School with 347 points, while Elkhorn was second with 323. The Vikings were third with 311.

“I’m very pleased with how the team did,” Parker coach Eric Rhodes said. “I came in expecting a top-four finish, and we got third.

“Marcus swam a great race, and David (Dvorak) had a lot of fun swimming against (Wes) Lagerhausen in the 200 freestyle. Lagerhausen is the best swimmer in the state.”

Genrich, a junior, won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.11. Parker senior David Dvorak was second in the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly, while the Vikings also were second in all three relay races.

Badger/Big Foot’s Lagerhausen, who spent the beginning of the year in Australia competing for the United States Junior Olympic team, won the 200 and 100 freestyle races.

Jayson O’Connor also was a double winner for the Badgers as he captured the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke.

Parker will compete in the Big Eight Conference meet Saturday at Middleton High School.
