Evansville High’s boys basketball team stayed close to the Rock Valley leader with an easy victory Friday night at Brodhead.


Tommy Kremer scored nine of his game-high 20 points in the first quarter as the Blue Devils rolled to a 67-41 triumph


The two-time defending champion Blue Devils (11-4) improved to 8-2 in the conference and remained a half-game behind league-leading Edgerton (13-1, 8-1).


Andrew Keister scored 16 points and Matt McElroy added 11 for the Blue Devils.


Andy Swain led Brodhead (6-10, 2-8) with 16 points.

Turner 60, Clinton 49—Jaron Bertelsen took charge in the second half to carry Beloit Turner past the visiting Cougars.


Trojans (5-7) were up 29-26 at halftime and led the entire second as they pulled even with Clinton (6-8) at 5-5 in the Rock Valley.


Bertelsen scored 15 of his game-high 24 points in the second half. He had 15 in a 17-13 fourth quarter that sealed the victory.


Keifer Cary led Clinton with 22 points, and teammate Logan Krebs added 10.

Big Foot 50, Palmyra-Eagle 39—Mike Spadoni led the way with 17 points as Walworth Big Foot (5-11, 4-6) gradually pulled away to a Rock Valley victory at Palmyra.


The Chiefs broke away from a 19-16 halftime lead with 12-7 advantage in the third period.


T.J. Schaid added 13 points for the Chiefs, and teammate Stephen Oja had 10. Cory Fritz had 16 points for the Panthers (2-12, 0-9).
