Elkhorn High School’s fourth-quarter parade to the free-throw line nipped Milton, 55-53, in Southern Lakes Conference girls basketball Friday night.


While Milton (6-5, 3-3) rallied for a 25-20 fourth-quarter advantage, the Elks (4-3, 7-5) made 16 of 22 free throws in the final period to seal the victory.


The Elks’ Kasey Reeves made nine of 10 free throws down the stretch and finished with 15 points. Elkhorn sank 23 free throws to Milton’s eight for the game.


Elkhorn’s Micaela McDonald scored 17 points, while teammate Ashlyn Anderson added 10. Milton’s Liz Eide also scored 17 points, teammate Tasha Randall had 15.

Delavan-Darien 65, East Troy 21—The league-leading Comets rolled to a 21-9 first-quarter lead at East Troy and cruised to 7-0 in the Southern Lakes.


Courtney Flood scored 13 points to lead the seventh-ranked Division 2 Comets. Kelly Supernaw added 11 points for Delavan-Darien.


In falling to 0-7 in the Lakes, East Troy did not have a player reach double figures.

Jefferson 46, Fort Atkinson 38—Jessica Splittgerber drilled four three-pointers in the first quarter, and Jefferson rode an 18-11 advantage to a Southern Lakes victory over arch-rival Fort Atkinson.


Splittgerber finished with 22 points as the defending champions climbed to 4-3 in the conference and 8-4 overall.


Fort Atkinson (4-9, 1-6) pulled within four points with two minutes left, but that was a close as it got.


Morgan Wendlandt and Ralissa Nelson each had 13 points for the host Blackhawks.
