Whitewater boys get past Milton

— Whitewater High dominated in the fourth quarter to hand Milton a 43-37 loss in Southern Lakes Confernce boys basketball Friday night.

The Whippets gained a 13-4 advantage in the final period behind a 6-for-9 effort from the free-throw line down the stretch.


Milton led 33-30 after three quarters. Whitewater pulled even on Kyle Lencho’s basket with two minutes remaining.


Whitewater (5-6, 2-4) pulled ahead on free throws, while Milton missed several chances to tie after missing a pair of front-end bonus situations.


Whitewater’s Miles Hookstead scored six of his 22 points in the fourth quarter. Mason Walters scored 11 points for Milton (5-6, 2-3).

n East Troy 74, Fort Atkinson 47—The league-leading Trojans sank five of their 11 three-point shots in the first quarter at Fort Atkinson en route to a 19-5 lead and a 6-0 record in the Southern Lakes


Kyle Jones led the Divison 2 fourth-ranked Trojans (12-1) with 20 points, including four three-point goals. Allen Loth added 11 points for East Troy, and teammate Dan Douglas scored 10.


Josh Meyerhofer scored 10 points for Fort Atkinson (5-5, 3-3).

n Elkhorn 48, Jefferson 32—Elkhorn (9-3) rejected Jefferson’s comeback bid to grab second place in the Southern Lakes at 4-2.


After the visiting Elks built a 25-14 halftime lead, Jefferson got within four points in the third quarter. Elkhorn then surged to a lead that reached 17 points in the final period.


Max Findreng led Elkhorn with 16 points, followed by Eric Bryson with 14 and Jake Gahart with 11. Trevor Probst topped Jefferson (2-9, 0-6) with 14.
